Specialising in music by Czech and Eastern European composers, Ondřej has conducted the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Czech Chamber Philharmonic, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, Copenhagen Phil, and Symphony Orchestras of Ålborg, Århus, Odense, and Sønderborg among others. He also regularly assists Ryan Bancroft with BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Malmö Symphony, and Jac van Steen with Prague Symphony Orchestra and NYOS.

In the 2023/2024 season, Ondřej’s engagements include the Copenhagen Phil, the Danish Sinfonietta, Ålborg Symphony, Helsingborg Symphony, Magna Sinfonia, DKDM Symphony, and Prinsens Musikkorps.

Recipient of the Roderick Brydon memorial award, Ondřej’s recent highlights include stepping in at short notice for Martyn Brabbins, Joana Carneiro, and with the Prague Summer Nights Orchestra at the Mahler-Jihlava festival. He was MD with King’s College London Symphony Orchestra and equally recently graduated from London’s Royal College of Music (with distinction).

At the RCM, he recorded music with Sir Thomas Allen, performed with Maxim Vengerov, assisted Sir Antonio Pappano, conducted the English National Opera Orchestra in a masterclass with Martyn Brabbins, and studied with Sir Roger Norrington as well as his mentors Toby Purser, Jac van Steen, Howard Williams & Peter Stark. His principal mentor is currently Giordano Bellincampi.

In recent years, Ondřej has performed Wagner’s Das Rheingold as Staff Conductor at Dramatic Voices Program. He was Principal Guest Conductor at VoiceArc Opera (Scotland), and Assistant Conductor at Berlin Opera Academy. Likewise, Ondřej has worked with a multitude of choirs, including InChorus which has raised £50,000+ for charity. He also performed Dvořák’s Stabat Mater with 250+ performers as principal conductor of EUMS Sinfonia.

As an avid supporter of new music, Ondřej set up a composition competition as MD of Edinburgh University Brass Band, as well as having commissioned, premiered, workshopped, and CD-recorded numerous new works.

Ondřej speaks English, Czech, Russian, French, and German.
