Ondřej Soukup will record Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du soldat, narrated by the legendary Sir Thomas Allen and performed by musicians from the RCM in May this year. This project will feature nearly 50 dancers from the Central School of Ballet, and will be filmed in cooperation with Middlesex University. The recording will be showcases in the In Focus series presented by the Royal College of Music.
The live recording from Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall and will be produced by RCM’s Artistic Director Stephen Johns. In the past, he has worked with the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonics, Sir Simon Rattle, Bernard Haitink and others.
In the 50th anniversary year since Igor Stravinsky’s passing, RCM musicians celebrate the composer’s life and work through this recording. Ondřej also recorded his Symphonies of Wind Instruments earlier this season.
Ondřej Soukup is an exciting young conductor and winner of the third prize & special prize at the Ionel Perlea International Competition (2024). His repertoire counts 350+ works by men and women. He has conducted the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Czech Chamber Philharmonic, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, Moldovan National Philharmonic, the Copenhagen Phil, the Danish Sinfonietta, and Symphony Orchestras of Ålborg, Århus, Helsingborg, Odense, and Sønderborg, among others.
